Advanced Materials-JTJ Ltd. has developed and produces special coatings marked FN® designed for highly effective photocatalytic air cleaning. FN® coatings are applied in a thin layer on wall surfaces, building structures, facades, roofs, wood and other materials. FN® represents second generation of photocatalytic coatings, nearly hundred times more effective than conventional products of the first generation, which are based on silicate, silicon or acrylate binders or  sol-gel.

As for the composition, the FN® coatings are water suspensions of photoactive titanium dioxide in the mixture of inorganic binders. The applied coating creates a thin layer of 0.005–0.05 mm. This layer cleans the air, decomposes organic and inorganic substances and shows self-cleaning effect. The FN® coated room transforms into a highly effective, low-energy, reliable, and maintenance-free air cleaner. The cleaning process is activated by ultraviolet light (UV-A), a natural component of the day light. In areas with insufficient illumination, UV-A light must be provided by an artificial source - lamps with the optimum wavelength of 365nm.

The substances degradable by photocatalysis are for example nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulphur oxides (SOx), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3), ammonia (NH3), hydrogen sulphide (H2S), most of chlorinated hydrocarbons, dioxins, chlorobenzene, chlorophenol, simple hydrocarbons (e.g. CH3OH, C2H5OH, CH3COOH, CH4, C2H6, C3H8, C2H4, C3H6), aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, phenol, toluene, ethylbenzene, o-xylene), pesticides (Tradimefon, Primicarb, Asulam, Diazinon, MPMC, atrazine), organic coloring matters etc. At the same time, bacteria, viruses, yeast cells, fungi, and spores are eliminated on the photocatalytic surface. Dangerous organic substances such as benzo(A)pyrene on micro dust surface are also eliminated and the clean dust is removed by the rain.

Utilization:

Effective, reliable and defect-free air cleaner

Under extreme conditions, one square meter of FN® photocatalytic surface can remove kilograms of harmful and irritating substances, pathogenic microorganisms and allergens per year!

INTERIOR: removal of unpleasant odors, cigarette smoke, allergens and other harmful substances; prevention of musty deposits on walls, windows and furniture;  reduction of pathogenic organisms  thus lowering the risk of infection.

EXTERIOR:  Economical and environmental effects

· Creation of self-cleaning surfaces -  permanently clean facades.  The photocatalytic effect persistently and efficiently protects the FN® treated surfaces against  slow deposition of impurities and dirt from fumes, soot, dust and aerosol greasy droplets, growth of algae, mosses, lichens and mildew.

· Decontamination of air.     FN® suspensions are the only sufficiently effective and cost-efficient means enabling almost instant reduction of the concentration of harmful substances emitted by traffic and industrial production in urban and industrial agglomerations!

· Anti-graffiti effect. Thicker layer (0,15–0,20mm) of FN2® demonstrates a strong anti-graffiti effect.
